FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - JDTAN Announces Formation of Six Specialized Health and Wellness Task Forces

Miami, Florida — The Jamaica Diaspora Taskforce Action Network (JDTAN) is excited to announce the establishment of six specialized task forces within the Health and Wellness sector. This strategic division is aimed at streamlining efforts, fostering effective leadership, and enabling a targeted approach to addressing health issues in Jamaica. Each task force will be led by a dedicated chairperson, supported by two vice-chairs, to ensure comprehensive leadership and continuity. These task forces will set clear goals and provide guidance and support within their respective areas of focus. We are pleased to introduce the leaders of these task forces: 

 1. **Aging & Long-Term Care Task Force** **Chair:** Dr. Angela Wright This task force will focus on improving care and services for Jamaica's aging population, ensuring their long-term wellbeing and support. 

 2. **Public Health Surveillance, Non-Communicable Diseases, and Infectious Disease Task Force** **Chair:** Dr. Sylvanus Thompson Tasked with enhancing surveillance systems and addressing both non-communicable diseases and infectious diseases, this team aims to safeguard public health. 

 3. **Health Education & Professional Development Task Force** **Chair:** Dr. Bridgette Johnson This task force is dedicated to advancing health education and professional development initiatives to build capacity within the healthcare workforce. 

 4. **Mental/Behavioral Health Task Force** **Chair:** Karlene Tomlinson This group will focus on mental health strategies, promoting a better understanding and treatment of mental and behavioral health issues. 

 5. **Medication Management Task Force** **Vice Chair:** Dr. Dorothy Brown This task force concentrates on optimizing medication use and management to improve patient outcomes and enhance healthcare efficiency. 

 6. **Healthbyte Magazine** **Chair:** Dr. Dahlia Blake This task force will lead efforts to disseminate valuable health information through engaging and informative content in Healthbyte Magazine. 

 JDTAN and Health & Wellness Leadership Team congratulates the newly appointed chairpersons and looks forward to collaborating with them to achieve impactful results. Together, we aim to make significant strides in enhancing health and wellness across Jamaica.
